Situated close to the borders of Leitrim and Cavan, Rose Cottage is a lovely base from which to explore this delightful part of the country.

Literally translated to mouth of the ford of the pig, Ballinamuck is a wonderful area to discover the mass of farmland, lakes, low lying hills and pristine boglands of North Longford. Ballinamuck was once the site of the Battle of Ballinamuck and there is a local heritage centre which houses an interesting exhibition of the events of the battle. The centre also offers guidance on local walks, which retrace the steps of those who fought during the battle.
