1 Bedroom Cottage in Fort Augustus
Enjoy a relaxing stay on our family homestead, set within private woodland.
You’ll have the cottage to enjoy (excluding our private office) with views of the mountains, woodland and wildlife.
We offer full self-catering facilities, but also like to leave a treat or two. These will vary. ☺️
We live opposite and so are always around to assist and have a chat.
Children and relaxed pets are very welcome. We have a climbing frame, 8ft trampoline, and chickens to say hello to.
The space
The cottage opens into a small entryway with doors leading to the bathroom, a storage cupboard (with lots of extras inside), our private office, and the living area, which goes onto the bedroom.
The living area is bright and spacious with a full kitchen, dining table for 4, sofa bed, TV, and a work station.
Double French doors lead from the living area to the garden and woodland beyond. During good weather you can enjoy cooking outside in the fire pit, or on our suspended grill. You’re also very welcome to explore our fledgling homestead or have a bounce on the trampoline. The climbing frame is for kids only! 😉
The bedroom features a comfy double bed with orthopaedic mattress. You can find extra bedding, and a hairdryer in the clothing stand. There’s also a wall mounted mirror for your convenience.
The large window faces out into the garden, complete with bird tables.
The bathroom is modest, but well equipped, with a large basin, toilet, and standing shower. We provide all the toiletries you should need, plenty of towels and cloths, and a magnified mirror. There’s a baby bath in the storage cupboard too, should you need it.
The laundry facilities are in the main house, but we can wash and dry your clothing in 24hrs for a fee of £4.
There’s space for muddy boots and wet coats to dry in the cottage.
Guest access
We have a generous drive and gravelled parking area for up to 2 cars.
Gravelled pathways adjoin our house and the cottage. These are lit at night. There are two steps, or a ramp, up to the cottage door.
From the cottage you can walk up to the village in 10 minutes, along the main road (2mins by car). Or you can take the scenic route, through the golf course and along the canal, which taking about 15-20 minutes on foot.
Other things to note
As mentioned in the listing, we have a private office in the cottage. We only really use it during office hours Mon-Fri, but may need to pop in occasionally. The living area and bedroom are separate from the entryway and office, and so we wouldn’t ever be passing through, or intruding your private space. Thank you for your understanding of this.
