The area boasts wonderful ancient woodlands, rivers, lakes and countryside, overshadowed by the Maamturk Mountains, and all waiting to be explored. This is an ideal location for families and groups seeking a getaway in an idyllic and peaceful location, while still being close to the nearby villages of Maam, Cornamona and Clonbur. The cottage promises a tranquil and peaceful stay while still allowing guests to easily explore the region. The Western Way, a long-distance walking trail, can be joined at Maam and will take you to the ancient site of Mámean. Local fishing lakes include Lough Corrib, Lough Mask and Lough Nafooey. Cong village and Ashford Castle are a 15-minute drive away. Leenane and the coastline at Killary Harbour can also be reached within a 15-minute drive. A little further afield are the larger towns of Ballinrobe, Westport, Oughterard and Clifden. These bigger towns can all be reached within a 30-40 minutes' drive.
