Summary: So this cottage is 100% delightfully remote as I had wanted after 13 years of never having a vacation. I don’t have a car, so I walked 4 miles to/from Ballymote and it’s a very straightforward walk, if a little rough carrying a heavy backpack. Very easy to find as well. However, choosing such a remote location with no car ended up being somewhat of a problem for me!! I got a really bad cold! Because I’m coming from where it is 40° Celsius and dry, and Ireland is definitely not that. So sadly I wasn’t able to do much…hahaha. So future guests might want to opt for a car… The property itself is really beautiful and spacious, well insulated from noise, and it was nice to sit outside. It was very clean and well stocked with kitchen & bathroom supplies, and they left some digestive cookies and candy which sustained me my first day, and there’s the makings for tea and coffee. Might consider new pillows for the bed, maybe consider including period products in the bathroom, and the wood burning stove off-gassed a lot so I used it only once (flue might need cleaning?), and I didn’t know how to turn on the radiator so it was a bit chilly inside. Took me some time to figure out you latch/unlatch the door by turning the handle up to lock/unlock it. Wifi was ok. Shower was very nice. Had to take down one smoke alarm because it kept randomly going off (may need new batteries). Ballymote is great for supplying all your needs.
